Dear parents
This week we are on learning the months of the year from January to May (please make sure your kids know how to write them and read them as well) as well as creating syllables and segmenting words in syllables or blending syllables to create words. The syllables we learned this week were ma, me, mi, mo, mu, ba,be,bi,bo,bu, cha, che,chi, cho, chu. Please make sure your kids know how to write them and read them as well.

Esta semana empezamos a aprender los meses del año desde enero a mayo. Por favor asegurense que su hijo-hija sabe leer y escribirlos. Además empezamos a aprender como crear sílabas y como dividir palabras en sílabas y como combinar sílabas para aprender palabras. Las sílabas que aprendimos son ma, me, mi, mo, mu, ba,be,bi,bo,bu, cha, che,chi, cho, chu.

Also, the students precticed reading. We read the book Tiburón Incomprendido. The students really enjoyed it. Don{t forget to read at home with them in Spanish.

This week because of Hispanic Heritage month the students are studying different countries of Hispanic heritage. The students will be drawing flags of the countries they study as well as research facts about those countries and create thinking maps. Finally the students share their information with their partners.

Esta semana a causa del Mes de la Hispanidad los alumnos están estudiando países de herencia hispana. Los alumnos van a dibujar la bandera del país que estan estudiando y van a buscar datos sobre este país. Además van a compartir su información con su compañero de clase.

welcome back and happy new year. This week we are not learning new material. We will focus on what is a complete sentence and how to write complete sentences to describe pictures. Also, we will review reading the syllables with the letters we have learned and we will start preparing for the ACCESS test.

Welcome back. I hope you had a great spring break. Staring tomorrow and for the next 2 weeks 3rd and 4th grade are taking the IAR state test. Due to the fact that I am administering the test some days the students might have to miss class due to testing. During this month students will continue learning about what we started before Spring break as well as we will start our new unit on the solar system.

¡Bienvenidos! Espero que hayan tenido unas excelentes vacaciones de primavera. A partir de mañana, y durante las próximas 2 semanas, 3er y 4to grado tomarán el examen estatal IAR. Debido al hecho de que estoy administrando la prueba algunos días, es posible que los estudiantes tengan que faltar a clase debido a la prueba. Durante este mes, los estudiantes continuarán aprendiendo sobre lo que habíamos empezado antes del descanso y además vamos a empezar nuestra nueva unidad sobre el sistema solar.
